Retreats

The practice, carried into the mountains

A few times a year the same yoga, meditation and Himalayan sound healing goes up into the high country — several days at a stretch, in places that have held this practice for a very long time.

About the cost

A contribution, not a price

A contribution covers transport, food and accommodation. The practice itself is always given freely.

This is the one exception to the free-of-cost rule, and we would rather state it plainly than hide it. Getting a group to Panch Pokhari costs money — vehicles, porters, food, somewhere to sleep. That is what the contribution pays for. It is not profit, and the yoga, meditation and sound healing on the retreat are given as they always are: without charge.

Going high, safely

These retreats reach real altitude, and the weather in the high Himalaya changes quickly. Please come with this in mind:

  • Ascend slowly and tell us at once if you feel unwell — headache, breathlessness at rest, or nausea are not to be pushed through
  • Warm layers, waterproofs and proper footwear are needed, not optional
  • If you have a heart or lung condition, or are pregnant, speak to your doctor before you decide
  • Walking fitness matters more than youth. If you are unsure, ask us and we will tell you honestly whether a particular retreat suits you

We would far rather you came on a later retreat than a difficult one.
