Water, Sanitation & Hygiene
Clean, safe drinking water for ten schools in Bidur Municipality, Nuwakot, and the handwashing habit that keeps the benefit alive after the plumbing is finished.
We make no claim to earlier water, sanitation and hygiene delivery. This programme begins in 2026.
The need
Why this work
On 26 August 2026 (Bhadra 10, 2083) Bhotekoshi–Trishuli flash flood, a flash flood came down the Bhotekoshi and the Trishuli. Ten schools in Bidur Municipality were left without a safe supply of drinking water, between them teaching 4,983 children and more than 100 teachers.
A school without safe water does not simply become uncomfortable. It becomes a place where water-borne illness spreads faster than attendance recovers.
What we do
How it is done
An automatic UF filtration system for each school, with storage, so the supply survives an interruption. Handwashing stations with taps and plumbing. Hygiene sessions taught through the children themselves, and menstrual hygiene support for the girls who need it.
Teachers, the school and Bidur Municipality are in the work as it happens. A plant nobody local owns is a plant with an end date.
